In summer 2024 the Semperoper Dresden asked me to design a tram for them from the outside which felt like a dream coming true. Since I am originally from Dresden, I have many wonderful childhood memories associated with the opera, for example when I (for once) was allowed to stay up much longer to watch The Nutcracker with my father, or when I went backstage with my school class during a tour and was very impressed to see the opera from
a different angle.

The biggest challenge in the design was to take into account the non-stickable surfaces, windows and doors and still create a continuous image.

In order to create a dynamic background pattern in which I could embed the protagonists, I came up with a modular-like mix of colorful organic and geometric shapes.
In addition, the opera's official logo should fit well into the arrangement.

The creative idea behind the artwork was to depict both: performers and musicians,
as well as some people from the opera audience, and to create an exciting interaction.

The tram passengers should get the feeling that they too could be visitors to
the opera.
